Le Tsalè, a Leading Name in the Fribourg Region

Traditional Fribourg cuisine near Châtel-St-Denis and Fribourg. In the space of thirty years or so, Café-Restaurant Le Tsalè has become a big name in traditional Fribourg gastronomy. Le Tsalè’s reputation is based on its history, of course, but above all else, it’s the work of one man. An old cattle herder’s chalet, built in 1830 and christened ‘Les Paccots’, gave the village its name.

Unfortunately, it burnt down in 1976. My father, Raoul Colliard, a local of the area, decided in 1990 to rebuild it exactly how it was. Already the owner of a small bar in the mountains, he threw himself into the adventure of starting his own restaurant. Passionate about Fribourg’s culture and gastronomy, he decided to serve his customers the best culinary specialities of the canton of Fribourg.

Keeping it in the family, I took over the restaurant in April 2009, bringing my own feminine touch. We are open Wednesday to Sunday, offering a traditional, welcoming and musical atmosphere.

Le Tsalè, A Place Not to Be Missed

To satisfy a large number of customers and hikers, we serve food non-stop from 11.30am to 9pm. Please only book by phone.

Le Tsalè can also host private events in a private banquet room reserved for this purpose.

A Natural Setting

fLe Tsalè is an old cattle herder’s chalet located in the village of Les Paccots, in the beautiful Fribourg countryside. Here, you can take full advantage of the mountains in both summer and winter, with many activities to enjoy, such as skiing, skating, hiking and snowshoeing. Kids can also have fun in the playground opposite the restaurant.
